Description and Duties
Morton Archaeological Research Services (mortonarchaeology.com) is currently looking for archaeological field technicians on an as-needed basis for upcoming projects in Western and Central New York State. Pay rate will be $18-20 per hour commensurate with experience. Additionally, mileage and tolls will be reimbursed. During out-of-town projects, lodging and per diem will be allocated.
Job Responsibilities
Job responsibilities will include excavation of shovel test pits and test units, pedestrian surveys, and construction monitoring. Applicants must be able to work in varied weather and terrain conditions and able to carry 20-30 pounds of field equipment. Applicants must have a valid driver’s license and own transportation to project areas and be willing to travel for projects when necessary.
Qualifications
Ideal applicants will have at least two years of education in archaeology/anthropology or a related field with at least one archaeological field school or equivalent experience. Experience with the precolonial and historic materials of North America, New York State or the Northeast are preferred but not required.
