Description and Duties
Hudson Cultural Services (hvculturalresources.com), a small firm located in the Hudson River Valley that offers a range of archaeological and historic preservation services, is currently seeking a field archaeologist for the 2023 field season. The candidate will be primarily field-based, working on individual projects throughout New York State, but may also be responsible for other aspects of cultural resources projects, including report drafting, data entry, site file reviews and site photography.
Applicants must have valid driver’s license, and provide own means of transportation to project site(s). Applicants should have the ability to travel to a location, walk and conduct fieldwork for long hours, sometimes in inclement weather, rugged terrain, and the ability to carry equipment and supplies weighing up to 40 pounds is required.
Salary is $18.50 to $20.00 per hour; per diem and hotel covered on non-local projects, compensation for travel.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a BA/BS degree in anthropology/archaeology and/or equivalent work experience along with completion of an accredited field school. Experience in the Northeast and particularly New York State is helpful.
Applicants must be motivated and able to work safely with minimum supervision. Applicants local to the Hudson Valley Region are preferred.
